Being an old curmudgeon and general all round miserable git, I always warn against over confidence. That said, I predicted losses against Liverpool and QPR which shows how mentally affected I have become by getting my hopes up over 55 years and regularly getting them dashed by West Ham :)

Trouble is, you younger whippersnappers (anyone under 45 these days) tend to be so optimistic and raise your expectations. This, like any game at this level, will be tough. They work very hard as a team and we will need to avoid silly mistakes, have a decent referee and keep 11 on the park. If those things go for us we should have enough to get something but I remind you all again, this is West Ham, she is a cruel mistress :-)

Afternoon Charley! The head's a bit sore after hosting Hammer & Pickle for a couple of days. A fair amount of vodka goes with that particular territory.

Nevertheless the upset stomach says 3 points today!

Irons!

I have a bad feeling about today, I think everyone is getting a bit carried away with recent performances and i just think Burnley will fancy their chances against us.
A mixture of over confidence from us and a pumped up Burnley I fear a 2-0 defeat afternoon.

Sven Roeder 2:21 Sat Oct 18
Re: Burnley v West Ham - Official Match Thread
I'm sure that late equaliser at Leicester would have given them a real boost and they have Ings their main striker back.
They will be thinking of this as a definite win chance and it's up to us to DISABUSE them of that notion asap.

Can't stand the ref Friend. He gave Hull City a dodgy penalty last season when JOB was penalised for what I thought was a legitimate challenge.
